Can you get an unsecured credit card after bankruptcy?

If you find yourself going through the Chapter 7 bankruptcy process, it will not be long before you wonder what the future holds. More specifically, how will you get your finances back in order once everything is in the past?

Many people are under the impression that they will never again qualify for an unsecured credit card. While Chapter 7 bankruptcy is sure to change your life in many ways, this does not mean that you will never be able to apply for and receive an unsecured credit card again.

If you want to get on the right track, start out with a secured credit card. This will allow you to get your feet wet, while proving to credit card companies that you have what it takes to act in a responsible manner.

Soon enough, you will find yourself in position to apply for an unsecured credit card. When doing so, keep this in mind: you may not qualify for the best offers. With a high rate of interest likely, make it your goal to pay off your balance in full every month.

You can absolutely apply for and receive approval for an unsecured credit card after Chapter 7 bankruptcy. This may not be something you want to do right away, but the option is there at some point.

It is important to remember that Chapter 7 bankruptcy is not the end of your financial life. In fact, it is just the beginning now that you are back on track. You may be able to apply for an unsecured credit card sooner than you originally believed.
